I have been
guilty of fanfic for a very long time,
even before I knew of a name for my little fantasies.
The first fanfic I wrote was
an odd Doogie Howser story when I was but
a wee lass. Now, I’m a writer in my
own right but I still enjoy writing the occasional fanfic. I use it as a way to practice my writing
skills when I can’t be bothered with an original idea.
I also enjoy participating in various challenges and
receiving the almost instant feedback from readers.
And I promise that when I manage to write that
best-selling novel I will welcome all of those out there who wish
to expand upon my work. I only ask that
any author reading fanfiction remember
that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”
