• October 2003 – Received award for best graduate student paper at the Popular Culture Association in the South Conference for a paper entitled “Magick in the Media: Paganism in Books, Film, and Television.” The paper was co-authored with Kathy Whitaker

• May 2004 — Proposal accepted for presentation at the Popular Culture Association in the South Conference to be held in New Orleans in late September.  The paper is entitled “Not Just a Damsel in Distress:  Strong Women in Video Games.”
