Education:
  • 2003:  Master of the Arts in English from Georgia Southern University
  • 2001:  Bachelor of the Arts in English from Georgia Southern University with a minor in History.
Professional Experience:
  • 2002-2003: Graduate Assistant, Department of Literature and Philosophy, Georgia Southern University.  Editorial Assistant for Studies in American Culture

Awards Received:
  • October 2003 – Received award for best graduate student paper at the Popular Culture Association in the South Conference for a paper entitled “Magick in the Media: Paganism in Books, Film, and Television.” The paper was co-authored with Kathy Whitaker

Additional Professional Activities and Memberships:

  • May 2004 Proposal accepted for presentation at the Popular Culture Association in the South Conference to be held in New Orleans in late September.  The paper is entitled “Not Just a Damsel in Distress:  Strong Women in Video Games.”
  • October 2003 – Presented a paper entitled, “Magick in the Media: Paganism in Books, Film, and Television,” at the annual Popular Culture Association in the South Conference in Jacksonville, Florida with the co-author.
  • 2003 – Member of the Popular Culture Association in the South
  • 2003 Member of the American Culture Association in the South
  • 1999-2003 – Member of the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society for English students
Community Activities
  • November 2003 – Hosted a presentation and discussion of Religion in the Media for Religious Awareness Week at Georgia Southern based upon the paper presented at PCAS
